Hvorfor har det ikke vært noen store kvinnelige kunstnere?
Video - 2006

Why have there been no good female artists?

Could it been what Betty Friedan has called ”Frilly Blouse syndrome” that innocuous version of the feminine protest that even today compels successful women psychiatrists or professors to adopt some ultra-feminine item of clothing or insist on proving their prowess as pie-bakers.

All: If you think that’s funny you should read Betty Friedan If you think that’s funny you should read Betty Friedan

All: Could it be that there are no great women artists because women are incapable of greatness?

The problem lies not so much with some feminists concept of what femininity is, but rather with their misconseption- shared with the public at large- of what art is; the naive ide that art is the direct personal expression of individual emotional experience, a translation of personal life into visual terms. Art is almost never that, great art never is.

All: There is no great female opposite to Rembrandt, Cezanne, Picasso or Matisse Rembrandt, Cezanne, Picasso or Matisse Rembrandt, Cezanne, Picasso or Matisse

But in literature there is a difference. Anyone, even a woman has to learn the language, can learn to read and write, and can commit personal experience to paper in the privacy of ones room.

All: It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomlishment of my toils.

All: Why have there been no good female artists?
